Marjorie Jacobson and her best friend, Marty Garrett, arrive fresh from the Kappa house at the University of Iowa hoping to find summer positions as shopgirls. Turned away from the top department stores, they miraculously find jobs as pages at Tiffany & Co., becoming the first women to ever work on the sales floor—a diamond-filled day job replete with Tiffany blue shirtwaist dresses from Bonwit Teller's—and the envy of all their friends. Hart takes us back to the magical time when she and Marty rubbed elbows with the rich and famous; pinched pennies to eat at the Automat; experienced nightlife at La Martinique; and danced away their weekends with dashing midshipmen. Between being dazzled by Judy Garland's honeymoon visit to Tiffany, celebrating VJ Day in Times Square, and mingling with Café society, she fell in love, learned unforgettable lessons, made important decisions that would change her future, and created the remarkable memories she now shares with all of us. | | | Product Details: | | | Author:

Summer at TiffanyNov 18, 2009 What a great book! It brought back the simpler things in life. I could picture all that was going on. To hear about the goings on in this top-notch store was good to hear and realizing that they are all people just like you and me.
DelightfulOct 22, 2009 Set during the last days of WWII is a delightful tale of two young women breathing in Tiffany's, romance and all that New York City has to offer. I have already purchased this book for several friends and would recommend this for a quick read with no downside.

fabulousOct 15, 2009 absolutely wonderful book to read if interested in this time period/tiffany's/new york in general. I only wish that is was longer, it was so well written and makes me want to know more about the time. I love the 40's and 50's time period, and the author's stories really bring everything that was going on to life. read it in one sitting, i couldn't put it down. highly recommend!

Summer at Tiffany'sMay 22, 2009 What a fun book this is to read. You feel like you're right there in NY with the two girls who come from Iowa during WWII, to work in the city ~ at Tiffany's ~ for the summer. It's a great book! You hate to put it down.
I love the "used" purchase option at Amazon, which is ALWAYS cheaper, in addition to that, I've never received anything that looked close to being used.
The whole experience ~ including ordering & receiving ~ has been A+.

A better timeJan 16, 2009 This book was a wonderful story and it is hard to give a rating to someone's memories. It made me wish I lived during that time. Even though times were hard America worked together. The story was sweet and fun. It looks like Marjorie Hart and her friend Matty had a great summer and memories that lasted them a lifetime. If you want a light fun read this is for you.
