Among several other awards, his enchanting body of work earned him the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize-the “Nobel Prize of architecture.” Experience for yourself Gehry's captivating deconstructive designs in a new interactive book, Frank Gehry in Pop-Up. This beautiful pop-up book illustrates Frank Gehry's greatest works of architecture and their natural environments, demonstrating his gift for radically redefining structure and space. Discover the inspirations behind Gehry's light and lively designs in a three-dimensional way, and learn how he combines building elements with an innovative approach. Featured within are his most iconic works, including the titanium-clad Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the pioneering, pulled-apart structure of Gehry's Venice Beach House. Get to know the man behind the buildings with a brief yet in-depth look into Gehry's personal history and lifeworks. Compare and contrast the many different sides of Gehry, from the whimsical laid-back Californian to the closet elitist-and sometimes obsessive perfectionist. | | | Product Details: | | | Author:

ok not what i expectedOct 27, 2009 its an ok pop-up book although the "pop-ups"leave much to be desired. I realize some of gehry's work can be difficult to animate as a pop up, but it almost seems just a cursory vision of his work.
Too much text v.s. actual built work in my opinion.

A 3D JOY RIDEJan 21, 2009 A GREAT FUN 'INTRO' INTO THE AWE-INSPIRING WORK OF FRANK GEHRY. WHILE NOT A COMPLETE CATALOGUE OF GEHRY'S WORK THE BOOK SHOWS SEVERAL OF HIS MAJOR BUILDINGS IN A BEAUTIFUL POP-UP FORMAT THAT IS BOTH FUN AND EDUCATIONAL WITH SUFFICIENT WRITTEN TEXT TO GIVE A NICE UNDERSTANDING OF THESE ARCHITECTURAL WONDERS. A MUST-HAVE FOR ANY GEHRY FAN. THE BOOK IS LARGE AND BEAUTIFULLY DONE AND WOULD DO ANY COFFEE TABLE PROUD... WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE HAD MORE 'GEHRY POP-UPS' INCLUDED BUT CERTAINLY ENJOY THE BOOK AS IS...AM DEFINITELY READY FOR THE NEXT GEHRY 'POP UP' FEATURING MORE SELECTED WORKS SUCH AS THE TEAM DISNEYLAND ADMINISTRATION BLDNG,A 330,000-SQUARE FOOT BEAUTY IN YELLOW AND STAINLESS STEEL.

for an architectJan 13, 2009 My daughter was thrilled with this book and she is an architect. I thought it was much smaller, but is more coffee table sized. A great value.

A pop-up book for grownups!Jan 06, 2009 My wife has been practicing architecture for over twenty years and she loved it. How often do you find a pop-up book for adults? Informative and fun. It gets more use than the other three hundred books on architecture lining our shelves.

Frank Gehry in Pop-Up by Jinny JohnsonJan 06, 2009 The book was damaged when I received it which cost me and additional $27.00 in shipping to replace it.
The printing quality is really not up to par, nice concept but not thought through.
Although Amazon exchange the book I would never purchase from them again with the extra costs of shipping I ended up paying for the book twice.
