Almost instantly, she became a cult figure to the fashionable young women who snap up her fantastic bags and couture clothing at high-end boutiques across the country. Now, in her first lavishly photographed book, Robin explains her interior design philosophy and shows us all how much you can do with just “a bit of velvet and a dash of lace.” In her fresh, young, and truly one-of-a-kind approach to home decoration, Brown combines colors, textures, and materials to create environments of endlessly fascinating detail. Her incredibly ornate rooms feature an eclectic mix of Victorian, oriental, and vintage American décor—yet they’re easy and affordable to duplicate and personalize. In addition to taking us layer by layer through each phase of decoration, and providing easy-to-follow and irresistible projects, Robin offers a delightful discussion of her unusual childhood that’s as personal and inviting as her own designs.

DROWNING IN VELVET AND LACEOct 30, 2009 While I like Victorian elements, as well as the artsy look of Bohemain decor...I felt rather dizzy looking at this book. I enjoyed the stories written by the author, and she is rather unique in her own way...but this much clutter is not useful in today's homes even if you adore vintage. The real pretty pieces get lost in a mountain of fabric.
fabulousOct 21, 2009 so interesting to see how Magnolia Pearl can create covers and colthing out of the same material
The WOW FactorOct 09, 2009 I was simply amazed at each and every turn of the page. To say Robin's style is unique is an understatement! Bold yet soft, vintage yet modern, the list could go on and on. I have nothing but admiration for this magical woman.
She's a true artist and her home and style reflect that perfectly. I only wish I could be more like that - I kept thinking about the practicality of it all like how on earth do you clean an ancient tapestry, can you really live with antique upholstered pieces outside, etc. Love the look, wish I could live with it, but just couldn't. On the other hand, if I ever win the lottery, my first purchase might just be one of her to-die-for bags!
Lovely world of colorSep 13, 2009 Robin is so talented her clothing and this lovely book allows everyone to use the unusual in your home. The only thing better would to be able to visit this fantastic lady in her home.
Letting yourself become....Sep 11, 2009 I enjoy this book everytime I open it. There is something new I see. Magnolia Pearl, somehow gives you permission to explore your wildest dreams in creating your environment around you. She opens your mind to ideas and creativity you may not have allowed yourself before. I appreciate her style, her creativity and whimsical nature. The pictures and story are wonderful.
