William "Wild Bill" Guarnere and Edward "Babe" Heffron were among the first paratroopers of the U.S. Army-members of an elite unit of the 101st Airborne Division called Easy Company. Arguably the bravest, most efficient, physically fit, and tight-knit group of soldiers the Army has ever produced, the unit was called upon for every high-risk operation of the war, including D-Day, Operation Market Garden in Holland, the Battle of the Bulge, and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden. Both fought side-by-side-until Guarnere lost his leg in the Battle of the Bulge nd was sent home. Heffron went on to liberate concentration camps and rake Hitler's Eagle's Nest hideout. United by their experience, the two reconnected at the war's end and have been the best of friends ever since. Their story is a tribute to the lasting bond forged between comrades in arms-and to all those who fought for freedom. | | | Product Details: | | | Author:

Brothers in BattleOct 12, 2009 Great story of two friends brought together in WWII and remained close friends! Wonderful story!
Great book if you're a fan of Band of BrothersSep 27, 2009 This book tells the story that by now may be familiar to fans of Band of Brothers. However, it gives us real insight from the perspectives of Bill Guarnere and Babe Heffron. These two remained best friends after the war, and their story is touching. Both are humble, frank, and honest when describing their experiences. A great read for anyone interested in learning more from these true heroes.
Good BookSep 25, 2009 This book is probably just the author recording, then writing up an interview(s) with Bill Guarnere and Babe Hefron. It is a bit "stream of conciousness" but with those two guys, that's not a bad thing.
Band of Brothers storyAug 09, 2009 Written by two friends from Easy Company, who describe the joy and sorrow of their WW II experiences in a very moving memoir. If you liked the television series and Stephen Ambrose's book, you'll enjoy this book too.
